WEATHER: Cloudy, some rain mixed with sleet, 37-degrees

RACE RECAP: Stan Silvert from McDonough, Ga. and Vincente Hernandez of Charlotte, N.C. claimed the overall titles, 10K and 5K respectively, in the sixth running of the Freedom Run at Clayton State University. Silvert ran the 10K in 41:10 while Hernandez ran 20:01. A mix of rain and sleet and temperatures in the mid-30’s slowed times while the threat of ice and snow made for a small turnout this year. The women’s winners were Valerie Nagle of Smyrna, Ga. in the 10K with a time of 47:33 while Angela Ahlquist of Atlanta bettered last year’s 5K women’s winning time by two seconds with a time of 22:25.
