Combo Challenge Events

The Atlanta Track Club has a new combo event challenge. From the Atlanta Track Club website:
The Atlanta Track Club is partnering with Volkswagen of America for the VW Triple Peach, a program designed to improve the Atlanta running experience that features three of the city's most beloved events: The AJC Peachtree Road Race (July 4), the Atlanta Marathon or 10 Miler event (October 27) and the Atlanta Half Marathon (November 28). The VW Triple Peach encourages partcipants to train and support each other through the 2013 Atlanta Track Club milestone events.

Participants who sign up for the VW Triple Peach will receive discounted entry into the Atlanta Marathon or 10 Miler and the Atlanta Half Marathon, and those completing all three events will receive public recognition and special award.

Other track clubs or events around the country offer similiar combo challenges. In Alabama, there is the 3N3 Alabama Marathon Challenge. That challenge features the Rocket City Marathon, First Light Marathon, and the Mercedes Marathon. Complete all three marathons and runners receive a special medal.

The Chattanooga Track Club challenge is called the Battle of Chattanooga. The three events include the Chickamauga Chase 15K, the Missionary Ridge 4.7 Mile Road Race, and the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon. A special medal is given to those who do all three and awards are given in certain categories.

One of the most known challenges is put on by RunDisney. The Goofy Challenge is a little more difficult then the above races since it requires you to run a half marathon on Saturday and then a full marathon on Sunday at the annual Disney World Marathon Weekend. If you are really up to a challenge then you can try the Dopey Challenge. This challenge takes place across four days in January and challenges you to run a 5K, then a 10K, then the Disney Half Marathon, followed the next day by the Disney Marathon. Complete either the Goofy Challenge and you receive a special medal for the accomplishment. Same goes with the Dopey Challenge. Completing the Dopey Challenge will be a nice medal haul since you will receive a medal for completing the each individual race, the Goofy challenge medal and the Dopey Challenge medal. One weekend and six medals. Pretty good weekend. Also, be prepared to lay down some money for the Dopey Challenge. Registration fees for the Dopey is $555. The challenge is already sold out for 2014.

All of the above are fun and unique twists and challenges on running. Giving a chance to challenge yourself and set some different goals.

SPOTLIGHT OF THE MONTH
Walking with Pease

If you haven't heard of locals Kyle and Brent Pease then when you get a chance check out their website and foundation. Recently Brent and Kyle completed Ironman Wiscoson. What makes that so unique? While Kyle is relegated to a wheelchair due to Cerebral Palsy that doesn't stop Brent from pushing his brother in marathons and triathlons. A truly inspirational story about two Georgia athletes and the love between two brothers.
