Your Local Running / Bike / Tri Store
I was recently on a message board that I frequent weekly and saw somebody ask advice about shoe fitting and best place to buy. Someone replied to the post to go to your local running store and have a gait analysis/shoe fitting done. Good advice. They next told the person to then buy their shoes online instead of the running store because it would be cheaper.
I am sure many people just cringed, especially if you work/own one of those local shops. I consider myself thrifty and I like the ease of shopping online. I also like businesses that go the extra mile. That give great customer service and extras little things.
There are several great local running/bike/triathlon stores in the metro Atlanta area. These stores offer some great things like bike fitting, show fitting, gait analysis, running groups and more. Many times, their prices are comparable to what you find online.
If you don't frequent local running/bike/tri shops then take sometime to do so. You might like what you find. If you do frequent them, don't use and abuse like the above person suggested. I always say "treat others like you would want to be treated." I think that applies here.
Below and on the right are links to some local stores.

SPOTLIGHT OF THE MONTH
The April and May newsletter I highlighted local running clubs. This month I want to highlight a couple of people. These are people who I think are empitmizes the everyday athlete.
Ben Dempsey I came across Ben's story late 2011. Many of you may have heard of Ben and seen his story. In the summer of 2009, while weighing 360 pounds, Ben decided to change his life. He designed a plan that included a healthier diet and exercise. He began to walk and then to run. He eventually lost more than 100 lbs. Ben ran the Publix Georgia Half Marathon in 2011 and then ran the Publix Georgia Marathon in 2012.

Swim Bike Mom So who is Swim Bike Mom? She is Meredith Atwood, a mom from metro Atlanta who in August 2010 decided that she wanted to do a triathlon. She started on her journey. She changed her lifestyle by losing weight, and training, training, training. She finished her first sprint triathlon and kept going. She then went on to do an Olympic distance triathlon and then a half ironman. She now is training for Ironman Coeur d'Alene.
She has done all of this while being a mom, wife, friend and more. She has a great blog that talks about her continued journey. She has been an inspiration to many other moms who are involved in triathlons. She has even wrote a book: "Triathlon for the Every Woman."
